Hilmand Afghanistan

  The word “Hilmand” is derived from the old Pashto language. The name has two parts: • “Hil” which means strong or powerful. • “Mand” which means continuous flow or continuity. This name is specifically given to the Hilmand River, which is the longest river in Afghanistan and is also the source of the name of the province.
